Myth Busting!Myth #1
“I don’t need to train in physical self-defense, I carry a gun!”
This may be one of the most self condemning and self destructive statements ever expressed by a human being.
Consider going to CCW class, setting through lecture while reading through a manual. Then firing one shot at a paper target, hitting a paper target. You now qualify for a plastic card that gives you legal right to carry a weapon concealed.
How many people regularly train after that? Training in real scenario, under distress and duress, while firing at a moving object or an attacking assailant?
Most people put the card in their wallet and strap the weapon on or place in their purse or vehicle.
If the need for drawing the weapon for your own self defense arises
A. What is your draw time?
B. Is the weapon on safety, or off?
C. Is the weapon charged, with one in the chamber, or not?
D. How skilled are you in weapon retention?
E. What if the attacker gets your weapon?
F. What if your weapon jams?
You may have purchased your weapon, paid a large investment for it…you own it legally, you clean it, you have held it in your hand and you take good care of it! But, that weapon is not loyal to you! What I mean is if you loose, or drop your weapon in an altercation, you can call it all day long, but it will not come back to you. If the enemy picks it up, it works in his hand as well or better than in your hands…and now YOU are the target!
