To be really upbeat I am going to name all the famous people we lost in 2022:
We first lost Peter Bogdonvich and he was 82 on January sixth. He co-wrote the Last Picture Show, Paper Moon and Mask. On the same day we lost Sidney Poitier at the age of 94. He was the first Black man to win an Oscar. Then we lost Marylin Bergman at the age of 93 on the 8th. She with her partner Alan wrote some very good songs Bob Saget at the age of 65 on the 9th. He was the star of Full House. On the 12th we lost Ronnie Spector she was 78. Then we lost Meat Loaf (Marvin Lee Aday) on the 20th. He was 74. On the 21st we lost Louie Anderson who was only 68. On the 29th we lost Howard Hesseman who was 81. He was most famous for WKRP in Cincinnati.
In February we lost Sally Kellerman on the 24th. She was the original Hot Lips in M*A*S*H. She was 84. In March we lost William Hurt. He won an Oscar for Kiss of the Spiderwoman. He was also in the Big Chill and Body Heat. He was 71 on the 13th. On the 23rd we lost Madeleine Albright who was the first female Secretary of State. In April we lost Estelle Harris who played George Constanza’s Mom on Seinfeld. She was also the voice of Mrs. Potato Head in the Toy Story movies. On the 12th we lost Gilbert Gottfried. He was in Problem Child one, two and three. He was only 67. On the 20th we lost Robert Morse. He was 90 and his biggest role was on AMC’s Mad Men. On the 30th we lost Naomi Judd. She was 76 and spent her entire career saying that she had hepatitis C, but she and her daughter won five Grammys and six AMA’s. She died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In May we lost Ray Liotta who was only 67. He was the star of Corrina, Corrina, Goodfellows, Field of Dreams, and Hannibal. We didn’t lose anyone in June but in July it picked up again. In July we lost Tony Sirico on the 8th. He was the star of the Sopranos. On the 14th we lost Ivana Trump as it was reported she was pushed down the stars. On the 25th we lost Paul Sorvino. He was 83. Je was the star of Reds; A Touch of Class and he was in Moonlighting. On the 27th we lost Tony Dow at the age of 77. He was the star of Leave it to Beaver. On the 30th we lost Pat Carroll. She was 95. She was the voice of Ursula in the Little Mermaid. She was an Emmy, Drama Desk and Grammy winner and a Tony nominee. Also, on the 30th we lost Nichelle Nichols. She was Nyota Uhura on the Star Trek series and all the movies. She was the first interracial kiss on television.
In August we lost Olivia Newton John on the 8th. She was 73 and the star of Grease with John Travolta which I just watched. She also is a Dame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Speaking of being made a Dame Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96. On September 8th. She was the longest reigning Monarch in History. Her family has totally embarrassed her. Glad she didn’t live to see the Harry and Meghan debacle. She had enough to deal with during her rein.
On the 23rd we lost Louise Fletcher who was 88. She was the star of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and the Exorcist II: the Heretic, plus High School High. On 10/4 we lost Loretta Lynn at the age of 90. She was a Country Music Superstar who gave us Coal Miner’s Daughter which won an Oscar for Sissy Spacek. On the 11thwe lost Angela Lansbury at the age of 96. She was an actress and singer.
On 11/25 we lost Irene Cara who was only 63. She was a singer and actress who did the soundtrack for Fame and Flashdance. On the 30th we lost Christine McVie who was with Fleetwood Mac. She was 79 and Fleetwood Mac was one of my favorite bands.
In December we lost Kirstie Alley on the 5th. She was the star of Cheers and the Look Whose Talking Movies. I saw one just the other day. Also, on the 30th we lost Barbara Walters who was 93. She was the host of the Today Show, the first female anchor woman. Pope Benedict died on 12/31. He was the first pope to resign. Also, on the 31st we lost Anita Pointer who was 74. She was a member of the one of the greatest groups of all time……” The Pointer Sisters”. They gave us “So Excited” and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
