Maison du Chasseur is a firearms manufacturing company located in Martigny, Switzerland. Their catalog is pretty diverse and includes anything from integrally suppressed ARs in 7.62×39 to bullpup Mauser 98 bolt action rifles, as well as a wide range of firearms accessories. In this article, we’ll take a look at the latest product of Maison du Chasseur – the E64 bolt action rifle.
European Bolt-Action Rifles @ TFB:
The 64 in the model name of this rifle stands for the number of days it took Benjamin, the owner of the company to design the rifle. That’s an impressively short period of time for designing a firearm!
Maison du Chasseur points out that one of the primary goals when designing the E64 rifle was to make it extremely lightweight. In its lightest configuration (E64 CARBON) with a carbon fiber stock and a 22″ fluted barrel, the rifle weighs 5lbs 4.7 oz (2400 grams). Well, that’s also the most expensive version of the rifle with a price tag of €4600. The most affordable version (E64 CH/WOOD) has a thumbhole wood stock and costs €2950. There are also three models of the E64 rifle (E64 SP/TEC, E64 SP/MULTI, E64 SP/Wood) that come with WOOX stocks.
Maison du Chasseur E64 bolt action rifle is also capable of quickly changing the caliber/chambering thanks to the removable barrel and bolt head (click here to see how it’s done). The rifle is fed from Tikka T3 pattern detachable box magazines and is offered chambered in one of the following cartridges: .222 Rem, .223 Rem, 7×64, .270 Win, .308 Win, .30-06 Spr, 7.5×55 Swiss, 9.3×62, .300 Win. Mag., 7mm Rem. The E64 rifle has a top Picatinny rail machined one-piece with the receiver, a safety that decocks the striker and blocks the bolt handle when engaged, and a single-stage trigger with three preset pull weights – 1.33oz, 1.75oz and 2.2oz (600, 800 and 100 grams). The E64 rifles are also available in left-handed configurations.
Maison du Chasseur do plan to export or produce the E64 rifles in the US, however, at the moment of writing, it is unknown when the rifles will be available stateside.
