Barack Obama has come to Spain to dirty the air, and he has been remarkably successful at it.
On Nov. 8, 2021, in Glasgow, he said that we had not done enough to combat the climate crisis. “All of us have a part to play. All of us have work to do. All of us have sacrifices to make,” he said then. “But those of us who live in big, wealthy nations, those of us who helped to precipitate the problem, we have an added burden to make sure we are working with and helping and assisting those who are less responsible and less able but more vulnerable to this oncoming crisis.”
Acting accordingly, the former president has visited Barcelona to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert, and he has done so in his private jet, accompanied by an entourage of more than 20 vehicles, underground units, K9 units, secret police in delivery vans, and the additional autonomous police of Catalonia and the Guardia Civil operatives. Some sources speak of 30 vehicles. Whatever. The least I expected from Obama was that he would travel by electric scooter so as not to harm the planet.
The entourage of Springsteen, Obama, and Steven Spielberg toured the Spanish city in high-end vehicles, but none of them were electric. Not even a little bit electric. That is, they have come to pollute without measure, for pure pleasure, to make everything dirty. All that was left for Obama to do was to stick a giant aerosol spray can out of the window and spray the sky, empty a few barrels of black carbon into the city parks, and set fire to a forest in some Spanish nature reserve.
Obama has been supporting green taxes and savage restrictions on individual consumer freedom for years under the guise of combating climate change. Since 2015, we’ve heard him say a million times that “climate change is the greatest threat to our future.” So, if he is no longer concerned about polluting when it comes to going dancing with his friend Springsteen in Spain, one of two things is true: He is a scoundrel who wants the middle classes to suffer the consequences of the Democrats’ climate policies, or there is no more climate change — in which case, with all the fuss he has made about it, it would be only fair for him to let the rest of us know so that we can join in the party as well.
“There is such a thing as being too late. That moment is almost upon us,” he said at the GLACIER Conference nearly 10 years ago. “There have always been arguments against this,” he said on another occasion, “that it will affect the economy, that we don’t want our way of life to change…. But the paradox is that few things will change our lives as much as climate change.” Today we know that it will not affect the Obamas’ economy, nor will it affect their way of life.
The European left-wing press melted with what happened with the song Glory Days, when The Boss called Michelle Obama to the stage, joining Spielberg’s wife Kate Capshaw and Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa to sing the song’s chorus. You may think I have no feelings, but these things make me sick to my stomach. It all seems like a nouveau riche joke to me. A horror.
Otherwise, Democrats once again showcasing Springsteen as a progressive icon isn’t such bad news. Between you and me, I prefer the music of The Boss a thousand times over the poems of Amanda Gorman, with which we were tortured at their rallies. But even if we have improved artistically, after coming to pollute Spain with a huge and unnecessary entourage full of gasoline cars, after crossing an ocean to attend the concert of a colleague who will perform in his own country this summer, I just hope that Obama has the decency not to tell us again how time is running out, that nature is dying, that our petrol cars and gas stoves are killing the planet, that Al Gore’s bears are sinking in the Arctic because you don’t ride your bike to work, and that we must quickly repent on our knees before Pachamama to appease Mother Earth’s wrath for global warming and commend our souls to the communist religion. I hope he shuts up for a while. Because seeing the apostle of the climate apocalypse come on a spree to Spain to leave everything filthy has certainly heated yours truly. For much less my mother would have hit me with the broom.
