I like that square one a lot myself it reserved solely for pancakes and biscuits in the oven. Round to the left Biscuits and Cornbread only. Round flat to the right is a new Lodge that is OK but not nearly as good of quality as the old big square lodge one.

I had a HUGE list of things I wanted to get done here before winter in the bigger and mid size projects. That Stonewall, big hearth and fireplace was one of the two big things that pushed this place over the edge to me buying here instead of the place I was ready to pull the trigger on in TN. I knew at first sight that big new wood stove I bought for the old places new house would need to go in that hole.

Other big over the edge feature was the front porch :)

The Day I closed on it with just the cabin and the old barn here back in June.

I have built a few buildings and the Rabbit Add on to the old barn, the cabin add on and behind the Red and Brown Chicken house there is a Duck House and Duck Pond.

Ya know I had to jump in the duck pond while it was filling up LOL.

The Rabbit addition to the old barn. While I was at it I lifted the wall of the old barn up and put four new 4x4s in it to take that sag in the roof out.

The Rabbit addition was the first thing we built. Lorrie came with 20 of her breeder rabbits and we couldn’t leave the cages on the ground for very long. Literally build the 14×28 add on around the rabbits on the cage base frames. Think we are up to like 70 rabbits now LOL.

The Cabin add on is the same size as the rabbit add on at 14’x28′ had to decide whether to come off the roof and have more pitch and a higher ceiling or come off under the eaves of the cabin and have a lot less pitch and 6′ 6″ ceiling. In the end I decided on a lower ceiling and only 3″ of pitch on the roof. Lorrie looked at me like I was insane when I started the chainsaw and cut the brand new framed door top off so it would fit LOL. Yeah Olaf is that big :) That add on is sealed up tighter than a frogs but and insulated top to bottom with R20. Has a 14×8 pantry on the back end, 20 feet of counter, cabinets and my big propane canning stove on the outside wall. Shelves Washer and dryer and two chest freezers on the inside wall.

Kind of a mess and everything is dusty from sitting in the old barn for 4 Months. The folks that bought the old farm didn’t want the range and cabinets in my old cabin so I moved them here and put them in the add on.

I didn’t build the new barn, what would have taken me a month or more to do myself the non english speaking crew had up in a day and a half. I sure did move a lot of dirt raise that slope up and out 50 feet into the valley floor though.

It is not a huge barn but 24x60x8 on the eaves meets my new needs and then some. I had the Electric service upgraded to a 400amp from the 200amp and a 4 loop box put on. Have to do a 180′ trench from the Service box to the new barn next year. Then feed off of it to the old barn and the Chicken House. No matter how I did it upgrading the old service or adding a second service and a 3nd electric bill by getting 40 feet closer off of another pole……. the electric to the new barn just was not going to get done this year.

Next year I fully intend to spend a lot more time playing in my creek than on a tractor seat or shooting nails :)
