Syria
There is much more to the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad than the glee you see in the media.
Let me explain:
First off, it shows the impact of decisions made by Russia and Iran on their sphere’s of influence. Both those countries were protectors of Assad’s regime and held him up as the rebels went after him for almost 15 years.
The fact that neither was in position to help now, tells you how devastating their leadership positions have been.
Putin and Russia are bogged down in the Ukraine and lost an estimated 500,000+ in that war. They could not act and help Assad survive.
So, put yourself in Putin’s world now. Your Middle Eastern ally, who gave you access to a warm weather port, has now fallen.
You lost your area connection, all because you invaded Ukraine and got bogged down.
Iran was the other Assad pillar that kept him in office. They did so through Hezbollah and other proxies.
Well, they’re gone because Israel has destroyed them in the Gaza War.
Iran backed the October 7th attack and then used Hezbollah to cause havoc on Israel’s northern border.
Israel responded and destroyed them.
Now, Iran can only sit back and watch an ally fall and wonder what the new regime in Syria will bring.
Two countries, Russia and Iran, whose leaders made the wrong decisions have cost them dearly.
What’s the impact for the United States?
Let’s settle this first, the Biden administration did not support Israel to bring Syria down. Israel, not listening to their “stop” and “don’t” achieved this despite the administration.
Now, is this good for us?
Well, the rebels, now in control, are not pro U.S. and the west. They are closer to Al Qaeda and ISIS than anything else. They are not friendly.
Thus, while you see the joy of Assad leaving, don’t get too uplifted, for the new regime may be worse.
Remember the joy of overthrowing Saddam Hussein? Was the overthrow of a tyrant good in that case? He ruled by force, and when he was gone the factions turned on each other and us.
In this part of the world tyrants controlled the uncontrollable factions. I fear we may hear more from Syria as time unfolds.
And though Syria has no resources like oil, it does illustrate the uncertainty of the region and why the incoming administration’s plan to “drill baby drill”, and make us energy independent is so right.
Why the current administration did the opposite and made us more dependable on undependable countries for supply is beyond me.
President-Elect On Meet The Press
I watched the interview on Meet The Press, the President-Elect’s first since the election, and was impressed.
He was calm, answered the questions, showed a grasp of knowledge on every topic and exuded confidence.
All those issues they attacked then candidate Trump on, like social security and medicare, he put to rest. No one will lose a penny as promised, he said.
On abortion, no he will ban the mailing of pills used for abortion.
On and on he debunked all those charges from the campaign.
Then I watched the MSM this AM and wondered if they watched the same thing.
What did they cover? He is going to pardon the J6 people, of which he said “will some”.
What a disgrace.
One more issue drove me to want to answer.
It was about tariffs and how “every economist” says you are going to raise prices and cause inflation.
The President – Elect answered by saying they are wrong and that he “imposed” tariffs the first time and we had no inflation under his watch.
Which led me to want to ask the moderator:
Weren’t you reporting (and supporting) the current administration’s claim that manufacturers were the ones raising prices to make greater profits and there was no reason to? How come in that world, you live in, they can’t absorb tariffs?
Or do you think you were wrong then?
Because you were.
