Let’s Keep America Exceptional – The Conservative Guardian

In large swathes of humanity, there is no actual concept of “fraud” against the government. Introducing a fraud-based culture based on tribalism into America is like introducing a lethal virus into a population that has no natural immunity. The virus will spread and grow, unchecked, because it is so alien to the host.

It is the ideal of an exceptional America that swept the Trump administration into power; an ideal pooh-poohed by Democrats and their allies in the UN. As if they can name another economy that collected $264.5 billion in tariff revenue AND secured $7 trillion in direct foreign investment in 2025 (source: Bloomberg). As if another military could take out Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities AND Venezuela’s Maduro without losing one American life, plane, or ship. Still, Democrats root against the US economy and military, hoping for what – mediocrity?

Democrats deride America First as a “nationalist” and “protectionist” mistake; when it is actually clear-eyed foreign policy and utilitarian domestic policy. Mr. Trump embraces the Realpolitik of Henry Kissinger, refusing to waste American lives and treasure on regime change in Caracas and Tehran. His MAGA movement is a brand of populism rooted in utilitarianism (deliver results to the greatest number of people…determine right from wrong based on what delivers positive results). The Trump administration is, in fact, trying to avoid the mistakes of the past.

There is credible evidence that American ideals cannot be exported, so let’s get real. We did not win “hearts and minds” in South Vietnam or export democracy to Afghanistan and Iraq. Japan is a reliable ally that rejected American-style diversity (still 98% ethnic Japanese), while embracing America’s modern quality control and manufacturing techniques. So, when the President was asked Friday why “align with Delcy Rodríguez, and not with Machado,” he schooled the reporter: “Remember a place called Iraq, where the police, the generals, everybody was fired, and they ended up [becoming] ISIS.” Translation: the mission in Venezuela is to neuter the Cártel de los Soles, not conduct another nation-building experiment.

There’s also credible evidence that not all foreigners are wired to embrace truth, justice and the American way. Not pro-Hamas Syrian Mahmoud Khalil, who lied to get his green card, or Salvadoran gang member Kilmar Ábrego García, who lawyered up to defy an immigration judge’s deportation order. Democrats call the DOJ “racist” for investigating and indicting Somali-Americans for entitlements fraud in Maine, Minnesota, and Ohio, ignoring the 64 Somalis already convicted by juries of their peers. If Dems think “diversity” at any cost is sustainable, they need to look at the data.

Nationally, 25% of Somali-Americans live below the federal poverty line (compared to 7% of Filipino-Americans) and nearly half receive some form of public assistance. In Minnesota, nearly 57% of Somalis live in poverty, while 26% live in near-poverty (source: MinnPost). 50% don’t speak English “well” after 10 years, and 89% of Somali parents receive some form of public assistance. 73% of Somali households have someone enrolled in Medicaid, and 54% receive food stamps. In comparison, only 18% of native-born Minnesotans are on Medicaid, and only 7% receive food stamps (source: CIS).

America’s strength was NOT “diversity” when it defeated colonialism in 1783, fascism in 1945, and communism in 1991. It was its “unity” and the ideal of an “American” who was endowed with God-given rights…whose homeland was free of the flawed ideologies of English lords, German fascists, and Soviet communists…who was united with his/her fellow Americans by legal citizenship and cultural assimilation. That “unity” and these “united” states is what America First is fighting to preserve, on top of this democratic principle: first, do no harm to the majority.

85.2% of the US population are native-born Americans (source: USA Facts). That’s 289 million legal citizens, who sustain a mainstream culture that transcends race and religion. Wanna know why our all-volunteer military is the envy of the world? Start with the social bond of 18-year-olds who attended American K-12 schools, celebrated American traditions with their families, shared American pop culture with their friends, and spoke English every day. That is the first step toward The Few…The Proud…The Marines.

7.5% of the US population are naturalized Americans, who took the legal path to US citizenship. That’s 26 million legal citizens, whose pledge to defend the Constitution is in writing. Almost all of them celebrate the 4th of July, and 69% speak English “well” (source: Pew Research). Within one generation (20 years), they achieve economic parity with native-born citizens. Within two generations, over half wed spouses from outside their cultural group (source: Stanford University). Within three generations, their ethnic heritage and mother tongue play no role in their lives (source: Cleveland State study). Which is to say, they willingly assimilated into their NEW homeland.

7.3% of the US population are illegal aliens. That’s 25 million undocumented migrants – more than Chile’s or Taiwan’s populations – living a shadowy existence in America, and creating a problem for legal citizens. They take entry-level jobs from young black men, and suppress wages in rural areas. They burden taxpayers by taking state-provided welfare. They tilt the apportionment of federal funds and House seats/electoral votes to sanctuary states by their addition to the US Census. They dilute legal votes by (fraudulently) casting ballots in blue states, such as California. Sadly, each of these wrongs is supported by Democrats…

…whose history is rife with NOT protecting ALL Americans. Not in 1890, when Democrat governor F.T. Nichols signed Louisiana’s Separate Car Act, keeping blacks out of “whites only” rail cars. Not in 1942, when Democrat president F.D. Roosevelt signed Order 9066, incarcerating over 120,000 Japanese-Americans. Not in 1993, when Democrat president W.J. Clinton signed the NAFTA agreement, inviting the loss of 4.5 million blue-collar jobs. Not in 2024, when an illegal alien – with four deportation court orders and multiple DUI convictions – was drunk, driving over 90 miles per hour, and killed Mellisa Powell and her son in a sanctuary state (Colorado) car crash.

America has an entry-and-assimilation problem – not an “immigrant” problem – and Republicans need to articulate that. Under Trump, CBP has secured our borders, ICE is rounding up criminal illegal aliens, the state department is expelling anti-Americans, and the war department is attacking the confederacy that’s weaponized immigration to weaken our nation. What’s lacking from this realist president is a realistic resolution to the illegal-alien problem. Spoiler alert: Trump cannot deport 25 million people.

The Reagan Amnesty Act gave legal status to 2.7 million “illegals” because the US agricultural and hospitality industries needed the labor. The view here is that Republicans should enact a legal pathway to US citizenship for maybe 10 million deserving folks, based on industry needs and the quality of the immigrant (no more antisemitic Muslims). That same law should impose a “citizenship” question on the US Census, require citizenship and photo-ID to vote in federal elections (House, President, and Senate), and re-apportion funds and representation based on actual and legal US citizens.

Such a bill would attract enough Democrats to pass, calm the nerves of decent migrants and their employers, and paint the anti-ICE mobs into a corner. Because the bottom line is this: America needs gainfully employed and law-abiding immigrants, but it does not need foreigners who view the USA as an economic opportunity zone that requires no change in their behavior or loyalties. Look at the pictures up top. Between Vivek Ramaswamy and Ilhan Omar – whom do you want in a position of power?
