Where on earth is Kamala Harris?

As anti-Israel, anti-Semitic protests have taken over campuses across the nation, inflicting lawbreaking, chaos, and hatred, the vice president has stayed silent and done little to acknowledge or denounce the protests.

When she has addressed the issue, it has only been in the vaguest terms. For instance, when a local reporter in Milwaukee questioned her last week on “broadly [her] concern about the level of antisemitism we’re seeing across the country,” she responded:

I am very concerned about it. And I will tell you, I’m the former attorney general of California, and for two terms I served in that position where I would regularly do a report on hate crimes. And anti-Semitism nationally has always been one of those areas where we are seeing hate, and it has not dissipated. Frankly, with what we’ve now seen since Oct. 7, we’re seeing it only growing, and I’m concerned deeply about it.

That is a far cry from the only appropriate response to these protests from the vice president of the United States: forceful condemnation.

This week, while Harris was in Atlanta on an “Economic Opportunity Tour,” she said nothing to acknowledge the protests that have been headline news for weeks now. “Harris did not address recent protests on Georgia college campuses tied to the White House’s handling of the conflict in Gaza,” Atlanta News First noted.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden gave a terrible response to the protests while letting others in his administration speak out against the protests’ rampant anti-Semitism. Last month, Biden denounced “both sides,” saying: “I condemn the anti-Semitic protests, that’s why I’ve set up a program to deal with that. I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians, and how they’re being…” But by Friday, Biden had finally faced enough backlash for his cowardly response. He relented and denounced the illegal and anti-Semitic elements of the protests: “Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations — none of this is a peaceful protest,” he said. “There should be no place on any campus, no place in America for antisemitism or threats of violence against Jewish students.” Biden’s remarks were too late to matter, as many of the protests were shut down this week by large groups of police officers. In contrast, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson visited the campus of Columbia University to denounce the protests nine days ago. Biden’s condemnation was too little, too late.

But Kamala’s silence is deafening. How could the vice president fail to denounce a protest movement fueled by anti-Semitism and illegal tactics — especially one that has flooded the news cycle for weeks? Voicing “concern” about anti-Semitism in general is not enough.

Perhaps Harris believes that alienating young radical progressives will hurt her chances for reelection. Or maybe she agrees with the protesters’ opposition to Israel’s response to Hamas’ attacks, as she has urged the White House to be “tougher” on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Regardless of the reason for her silence, Harris’ failure to forcefully denounce these protests will only alienate her from the average voter.

Amherst Regional Middle School in Massachusetts has become a battleground of identity politics, engulfed in accusations of transphobia and racism. The controversy ignited after the school’s student newspaper reported that Christian staff members, who are mostly black and Hispanic, were alleged to have engaged in practices such as misgendering transgender students and conversion therapy. This led to complaints from the parents of transgender children, who were predominately white, which subsequently led to accusations against them of racism.

The situation then escalated into a complex layer of mutual accusations among parents, staff, and administration. The school’s environment has been described as fostering a “culture of fear and intimidation” according to the DailyMail. Assistant Superintendent Doreen Cunningham was particularly targeted and was accused of protecting the staff involved. Her son defended her, suggesting that the issues were racially motivated and not directly related to LGBTQ+ concerns.

On Friday, Ana Kasparian, co-host of the progressive news and commentary show “The Young Turks,” slammed DEI practices in educational settings, specifically addressing the ongoing ‘culture wars’ at Amherst Regional Middle School in Massachusetts.

“So the white and Asian students are going to private or charter schools, they’re focusing on academics, then you look at this public school and they’re riddled with culture war nonsense?” Kasparian began. Even far-left host Cenk Uygur said, “I think that a lot of people, including myself to be honest, are starting to get the sense that wait, is DEI actually to help minorities across the country? Because I’m in favor of that.”

“Or is it to help elite African Americans and minorities get the jobs they want?” he asked.

“Don’t feed me this BS about like, ‘oh, we did mediation,’ okay? You can take your mediation and shove it up your *ss. Stop wasting taxpayer money and playing with these kids’ lives by engaging in your cutesy little culture war games” the liberal host said.

In recent months, DEI initiatives have been met with resistance as top-down mandates, without adequate input from all stakeholders.

“So just be a freaking human being, treat the freaking students with respect, and can we please just hire the most qualified people to do the job? Because kids can’t even freaking read, and we’re having a discussion about like, is the double-blind hiring process increasing diversity when the person who’s implementing this policy isn’t even following it and deciding to hire her friends instead? Ridiculous!” she concluded.

Kasparian’s outspoken comments also reflect a growing debate over the role of DEI in schools and its impact on the core educational mission, mirroring concerns that such policies divert attention from essential academic priorities.

In response to the tensions at Amherst Middle School, a Title XI investigation was initiated, which concluded that there had been “severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive unwelcome conduct” at the school. This investigation led to the temporary leave of two minority staff members accused of discriminatory practices against LGBTQ+ students.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul was asked to leave the wake of fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller amidst the scene of public disapproval by law enforcement officers. Officer Diller, 31, was tragically killed in the line of duty in Queens during a routine traffic stop by a known felon.

Sources present at the wake reported that Governor Hochul, who was only inside the venue for a brief ten-minute period, was confronted by a man dressed in a black suit. The details of the exchange remain unclear, but it was enough to prompt her departure from the service.

The moment she exited, several NYPD officers stationed outside the funeral home broke into applause—a gesture that was seen as an unmistakable sign of their dissatisfaction with the governor’s presence.

Hochul and fellow Democrat legislators have faced backlash following Diller’s death, particularly concerning bail reform policies.

Before the weekend services, Sergeants Benevolent Association President Vincent J. Vallelong wrote a harsh letter warning City Council members not to attend according to The New York Post.

“Their presence is more than a distraction. It is a stain on the legacy of a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice,” Vallelong argued, adding that the leaders should feel “morally responsible” for the officer’s killing.

A LATAM Airlines jet flew into severe turbulence high above the western Pacific on March 11. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner plunged like an overripe coconut. Although the 263 passengers and nine cabin crew members landed safely, dozens were hurt, and 13 were hospitalized. Doctors treated 10 passengers and three LATAM personnel. Several presented with bloody head wounds.

These passages from Chris Pandolfo’s account on Fox Business deserve close attention:

At least 50 people were injured Monday after a “strong shake” threw those without seatbelts from their seats and tossed around passengers on the Chilean plane traveling from Sydney to Auckland, New Zealand…

[Traveler Brian] Jokat told ABC that several passengers were not wearing their seatbelts when the plane took a dive.

“If you were in your seat, you went straight up to the ceiling and bounced off the roof. I just happened to be one of the lucky ones who was strapped in for that incident,” he said…

“The guy on the other row, he hit his head on the baggage compartment and he actually, like, broke the thing.”

Brian Jokat is wrong. He was not “one of the lucky ones.” Rather, Jokat was smart, mature, and responsible. Simply put, he behaved like an adult about his safety and that of his fellow passengers, particularly those whom his otherwise unbelted body could have injured had it hurtled through the cabin.

Airplane passengers should keep their seatbelts on, except when they get up to use the overhead compartments, wash their hands, or otherwise traverse the plane.

It is not asking too much to stay belted in one’s seat. Airline lap belts are less intrusive than automobile seat belts, which — thankfully — feature shoulder harnesses. Yet people routinely fly unbelted. This sometimes turns humans into projectiles that land on, wound, and even kill those who are belted in their seats!

I recall a recent flight in which a particularly rotund passenger sat across the aisle from me, with his belt flung thoughtlessly to the side. For a solid 30 minutes, I imagined our flight hitting turbulence, Chris Christie 2.0 ricocheting off the ceiling, and then crashing onto me like a human dumpster. If he did not kill me, he easily could have cracked my spine and condemned me permanently to a wheelchair.

Replaying that mini-horror film inside my mind became unbearable, as did that passenger’s gross negligence, which inspired it. I eventually requested that a steward ask this selfish passenger to buckle up. He did, and the skies became friendly again.

Was I being paranoid? Hardly.

“Last week, Delta Air Lines Flight 175 traveled from Milan, Italy, to Atlanta, Georgia,” Ned S. Levi wrote last Sept. 4 in Travelers United. “The Airbus A350 was about 40 miles from Atlanta when severe air turbulence injured twelve on the flight, eight passengers and four crew members. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), one crew member was seriously injured.

“Ayo Suber, a passenger on the plane, posted a video, plus an account of the turbulence incident on Instagram. She said that passengers were flying out of their seats and that one woman hit the overhead bin and cracked it. In her video, we can see the cracked overhead bin that Ms. Suber mentioned. An ice pack was held on a woman’s head, a person being assisted while walking off the plane, bandaged and wearing a neck brace, plus two people being carried off the plane on stretchers.”

Levi further reported:

• Each year, approximately 58 people in the United States are injured by turbulence while not wearing their seat belts.
• U.S. air carriers had more than 200 air turbulence accidents, resulting in 164 serious injuries, 131 to the flight crew and 33 to passengers, from 2008 through 2022.
• Since 1980, there have been three fatalities sustained from severe turbulence, two documented to be passengers who weren’t wearing their seat belts while the seat belt sign in their planes was illuminated.

If one refuses to wear a seat belt in a car, such stupidity rarely affects others. Even if an unbelted driver or passenger rides into a head-on collision and rockets through the windshield, chances are no one else would get hurt.

Airliners are completely different. There is no windshield to slow a passenger who shoots out of his seat. Nearby travelers are not shielded by glass, metal, or even safe distance.

When things go very wrong, flying unbelted is not a victimless act.

Pre-flight safety videos should include footage of what happens when planes hit heavy turbulence and passengers become airborne. If so, the millions of reckless people who spurn seat belts would strap them on, leave them on, and stop endangering themselves and — more important — other passengers who take flight safety seriously.

Flight staff should fortify their anodyne verbal requests that passengers stay belted. Why not say this?

“Even after the pilot turns off the Fasten Seat Belt signs, we very strongly urge you to remain belted when seated. Turbulence injures almost 60 airline passengers annually, mainly because they refuse to wear their belts and then get catapulted from their seats. Don’t become a statistic, or worse. Stay belted until we land.”

It also would help if Boeing and less clumsy jet manufacturers made Fasten Seat Belt signs permanent, much as No Smoking signs now stay lit. These companies should create signs that show either a passenger sitting down (Stay in your seat) or standing up (It’s OK to move about the cabin).

When today’s Fasten Seat Belt signs go dark, they suggest that passengers unbuckle. This is the wrong message. It should be: “Fasten your seat belt at all times, except when the pilot says it’s OK to get up briefly. After that, please sit down and buckle up.”

The alternative is to stay unbelted, potentially pilot one’s own personal flight through the fuselage, land uninvited on another passenger, and spend vacation not on beaches or ski runs, but in an ambulance or mortuary.

Fliers of the world unite: Wear seat belts until you return to terra firma!

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has bid farewell to special prosecutor Nathan Wade in DA Fani Willis’ election interference probe.

Wade resigned this afternoon and justified his exit in a letter, citing a commitment to democracy and the expeditious resolution of the case. “Although the court found that ‘the defendants failed to meet their burden of proving that the District Attorney acquired an actual conflict of interest,’ I am offering my resignation in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and to move this case forward as quickly as possible,” Wade penned.

In response, Fani Willis, the Fulton County DA, ironically hailed Wade’s valor in tackling the investigation. “I will always remember — and will remind everyone — that you were brave enough to step forward and take on the investigation and prosecution of the allegations that the defendants in this case engaged in a conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election,” Willis conveyed in her letter of acceptance.

The seismic shift comes hot on the heels of Judge McAfee’s decree allowing Willis to stick around only if Wade takes his leave due to concerns about the appearance of impropriety within the prosecution team:

In his attempt to find a middle ground, McAfee wrote that his decision was premised on the idea that “disqualification of a constitutional officer [is not] necessary when a less drastic and sufficiently remedial option is available.” However, he added it is obvious “that the prosecution of this case cannot proceed until the State selects one of two options.” Either “the District Attorney may choose to step aside, along with the whole of her office” or “Wade can withdraw” allowing the case to proceed without further distraction.

McAfee didn’t pull punches, slamming Willis for what he deemed a “tremendous” lapse of judgment and casting doubt on the veracity of testimony surrounding Willis and Wade’s relationship.

Trump’s legal eagles and other defendants’ counsels had alleged that Willis dished out hefty sums to Wade for his services, with Wade allegedly reciprocating by footing the bill for their joint vacations.

The Willis-Wade saga first burst into the spotlight via a motion filed by an attorney representing Trump co-defendant Michael Roman. The motion aimed to nix the indictment and boot Willis, Wade, and their team from further involvement in prosecuting the case.

The number of attacks against Catholic and Protestant churches has skyrocketed in recent years, and the violence shows no sign of slowing down. The Family Research Council (FRC) has identified 915 “acts of hostility” against Christian churches since 2018, with the number of incidents increasing each year since. 

Between January 2018 and September 2022, FRC tallied 420 attacks; in 2023 alone, it counted at least 436 attacks. Despite this massive spike in violence against churches, the current administration has failed to address the growing problem, which impacts citizens across the entire country. 

Senator Calls on Biden to Uphold Rule of Law

On Wednesday, Sen. Marco Rubio sent a letter to President Joe Biden “demanding that he address the growing number of attacks on Catholic churches.” Since May 2020, Catholic churches have been attacked at least 400 times. Though 142 attacks occurred over 2020–2021, the incidents spiked after the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked. Since the leak, there have been 236 attacks on Catholic churches alone.

Florida, Rubio’s home state, “is one of the top ten states where attacks against Catholic churches are occurring,” the senator wrote. Yet, despite the massive destruction caused by the attacks, “only 25 percent of these crimes end in an arrest.” 

“These religiously motivated attacks seldom result in any consequences for offenders and are part of a larger trend of fanatical activists targeting religious institutions,” Rubio wrote. “These attacks are not random nor are they the result of a temporary lapse in judgment by perpetrators.” 

Destruction and Desecration Reveal Anti-Catholic Sentiment

Far from being random acts of violence, many of the attacks on Catholic churches include the targeted destruction of sacred items, such as statues, religious artwork, or sacramental items.

In early January 2023, the nativity scene at St. Nicholas of Tolentine in New York City was vandalized twice in the same night. That same night, a man broke into an abbey church in Arkansas, vandalized the marble altar, and stole two boxes that contained 1,500-year-old relics. One week later, a vandal committed a series of attacks against three local Catholic churches in New Jersey, throwing bricks through stained glass windows and setting a flagpole and a cross on fire. 

In February, police removed an 18-inch pipe bomb discovered behind St. Dominic Catholic Church, one of the oldest churches in Philadelphia. On the Seattle University campus, the Chapel of St. Ignatius was vandalized in April. The perpetrator slashed benches and cushions, scratched out the names of God on the chapel’s walls, and destroyed books. 

Some attacks seemed to have a distinctly anti-Marian intent. In Billings, Montana, someone broke into Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, stole three statues and several paintings estimated at $8,000, damaged artwork, and spray-painted “Mary is the whore of Babylon.” The following week, a man poured bleach on a Marian statue and threw a statue of baby Jesus down the stairs at a church in Massachusetts. In South Carolina, several statues of Mary were found “severely damaged” on Mother’s Day at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. 

Other incidents had the trappings of Satanist impulses. On June 5, a man broke into St. Joseph Church in New York City, seized the Eucharist, and threw it. According to the FRC report, the perpetrator was found “hitting himself in the head with a monstrance.” In El Paso, Texas, vandals wrote “666” on items in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, “dumped holy oil,” and “turned crosses upside down.” Someone stole the tabernacle from St. Rita Indian Mission in September. 

And at Saints Peter and Paul Church in San Francisco, a man received the Eucharist but did not consume it. Following a peaceful confrontation about this sacrilege, the man punched his confronter, ran out of the church, and deterred police by setting off a pipe bomb and igniting a Molotov cocktail, according to the FRC. 

Political Motivations Behind Attacks

In addition to anti-Catholic motivations, some attacks were connected to pro-abortion activism. Ahead of the ballot issue that amended the state Constitution to protect abortion, Catholic churches in Ohio faced harassment and vandalism. 

In August, a church in Parma, Ohio, was vandalized, and the perpetrators tore down the American flag, ripped posters, and wrote several messages referencing abortion and gender ideology. A sign opposing Issue 1, which would enshrine abortion access in Ohio’s constitution, was cut in half at St. Mary’s Church in Oxford, Ohio, and other signs were stolen or vandalized. 

At Cincinnati’s Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains, the church’s signs opposing Issue 1 were stolen and vandalized. A short drive away, a “Vote No on Issue 1” sign at St. Monica–St. George Church was pulled out of the ground, thrown away, and then stolen after the church recovered it. Across the city, the same sign was removed from church property and replaced with “Vote Yes” signs. A sign opposing Issue 1 at St. Mary’s Church in Oxford, Ohio was cut in half, and other signs were stolen or vandalized. 

Catholic bishops have noted the uptick in anti-Catholic violence and commented in the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops January report on religious liberty that the increased vandalism and property destruction often “involved defacement of religious icons with pro-abortion messages,” as the Catholic News Agency reports. Since Dobbs, churches have reported pro-abortion graffiti, often including phrases like “If abortions aren’t safe, then neither are you” and “Jane’s Revenge,” a reference to Roe v. Wade’s Jane Roe. The USCCB report also noted the “general failure … of the federal government to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of such attacks, in contrast with the numerous charges brought against pro-life protesters outside abortion clinics.”

Indeed, as Rubio wrote just this week, “This imbalanced enforcement is despicable, and it undermines any notion that your [Biden’s] U.S. Department of Justice enforces the law without bias or prejudice.”

Catholics don’t expect special treatment from a president who shares their faith, but they do expect the same protection and equal treatment that other faiths receive. But perhaps even that is too much to ask for under our current regime.

Revelations from a 229-page transcript of Hunter Biden’s deposition include statements by the embattled first son that his uncle James Biden was not actually in business with him and his father wasn’t showing up to business meetings to influence them, among other questionable claims detailed by Jesse Watters.

Details of Hunter’s closed-door meeting with House Republicans were released Thursday, ending speculation about what he may have said to implicate President Joe Biden and other members of the family who participated in business dealings with foreign companies. Among the findings is that Hunter did not consider his uncle “Jimmy” a business partner but merely an “advisor” he was paying at the time.

“I wanted my uncle to be an advisor to me, so I sent money to him,” Hunter told two Republican-led committees.

Asking if President Biden, during his time as vice president and in the years that followed, dropped in on meetings between Hunter and business associates, Republicans were told that Biden was just there to make a birthday visit to his son.

“I wasn’t conducting business when I had those meetings,” Hunter said, “my dad stopped by because it was my actual birthday.”

“I was in New York City and I was having lunch with some of my business associates and I said ‘Hey dad, come by for lunch?’ Who wouldn’t do that?” he added.

Correspondence between Hunter and some of the associates, including those tied to CEFC, a corporation with ties to the Chinese communist government, included references to the “big guy,” widely believed to be President Biden and finally confirmed by Hunter this week.

“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father,” read a text from Hunter to a Chinese businessman connected to CEFC.

Days later, Hunter and his partners received a $5 million wire payment.

Bordering on absurd, Hunter later claimed that he received a diamond as payment only to later lose it.

“What about the diamonds the Chinese kept giving you and you kept ‘losing,’” said Watters, air-quoting for emphasis and adding that Hunter thought they weren’t diamonds but “probably stones.”

“It’s business culture in China,” Hunter told investigators. “when I first received the diamond, I thought it was an extravagant gift… We gave Mr. Ye a magnum bottle, of I think scotch – 1967 Macallan – that ultimately was worth far more than the diamond he gave us.”

Hunter is facing at least two separate criminal cases brought by special counsel David Weiss, who has charged him with crimes related to tax fraud, gun possession, and may still bring more charges for failing to register as a foreign agent on behalf of overseas businesses.
